FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about PDFSize.in.
How does PDFSize.in compress PDFs?
We use a professional compression engine that reduces image quality, removes redundant data, and optimises the internal structure of your PDF. This typically achieves significant size reductions on image-heavy documents.
Why couldn't you reach my target size?
PDF compression has natural limits. Text-only PDFs are already very efficient and cannot be compressed much further. Image-heavy PDFs compress much better. We always return the smallest file we can produce while keeping your document legible.
Is my PDF safe? Who can see it?
Nobody. Your file is transmitted over an encrypted HTTPS connection, processed automatically by our compression engine, and permanently deleted immediately after you download your result. No human ever views your documents.
What is the maximum file size?
We currently support PDF files up to 50MB. If your file is larger, you may need to split it first.
Will compression affect the quality of my PDF?
For most documents the quality impact is minimal and the document remains fully legible. Aggressive compression targets (like compressing a 5MB file to 50KB) will result in lower image quality. We always prioritise legibility.
How many files can I compress for free?
PDFSize.in is currently free to use. We may introduce usage limits or a paid plan in the future, but we will always maintain a free tier.
What does "Compress More" mean?
"Compress More" is a feature coming soon that will allow you to push compression further beyond our standard quality threshold — useful when you absolutely need a smaller file and can accept some quality reduction.
